Go on a walking tour of the city
Put on your warmest clothes and go on a walking tour of the city. But not just any walking tour, the Frank Sinatra Walking Tour that has been put together by the Hoboken Historical Museum. It is a great way to see some of the best architecture in the city, while also learning about its favorite son. You will see the birthplace of the man himself, and the place where he is thought to have performed his first singing gig.
Enjoy a night of bar hopping
Hoboken claims to have more bars per square mile than anywhere else in America. Make the most of it by going bar hopping to enjoy the city’s vibrant nightlife – there are more than 120 drinking establishments to visit. Make sure to include the Pilsener Haus & Biergarten on your list, an Austro-Hungarian (rather than German) drinking house that serves more than 70 different types of beers. If cocktails are more your thing, head to the Stingray Lounge.
Feed your taste buds during Hoboken Restaurant Week
The Hoboken Restaurant Week will take place between 27 January and 7 February in 2020. More than 50 participating restaurants will let you sample tasty morsels from their fixed-price three-course menus for a fraction of the normal price throughout the week. Popular restaurants include Moroccan cuisine at Barbes, an amazing Indian at Soul Curry, and delicious Italian at the Green Pear Café.
4. Indulge your sweet tooth at Carlo’s Bakery
Carlo’s Bakery is well-known from the popular TV show Cake Boss. It has been selling some of the best cakes on the east coast since it opened in 1910. Join the queue and browse the tasty looking treats while you wait, or sign up for a class and get up-close-and-personal with the masterminds behind the treats that are about to undermine all your New Year’s resolutions.
Escape the cold at Field Colony
Field Colony is a co-working space for creatives and entrepreneurs. If you get tired of working from the comfort of our apartment, you can come spend some time here. You’ll also find out that there is always something interesting happening behind the doors of this welcoming space. Sign up for one of the many drawing or painting classes, or take in a 3D modeling workshop if that is more your speed. It also happens to be just around the corner from the Birthplace of Baseball Monument, which is worth visiting for a selfie!
Considering you are just a short subway ride away from downtown Manhattan, Hoboken makes a great base for exploring the city. As well as hitting up the must-see tourist sites, such as the Statue of Liberty and Central Park, take advantage of some of the amazing winter events happening in New York City.
Explore the Winter Village at Bryant Park
Make the most of the colder weather by heading to Bryant Park. At the start of the month, until 5 January 2020, you will find the Winter Village, where you can try mulled wine, buy discounted Christmas treats, and get your skates on. Later in the month, from 25 January to 3 February 2020, you will find FrostFest. As well as tasty seasonal food and drink, there is some pretty spectacular ice entertainment, including bumper cars on ice!
Celebrate Chinese New Year in Hoboken
Celebrate New Year for a second time with Chinese New Year, which will be on 25 January in 2020. Make your way to Chinatown on the day and the weekend following for amazing processions and excellent food. Or celebrate all month by heading to Hello Panda Festival, the largest lantern festival in North America, which will run from 6 December 2019 to 26 January 2020 in CITI Field. See amazing lanterns, cultural presentations, and taste treats from 60 international food vendors.
